NaNoWriMo, part deux

October 25, 2003

Well, as some of you know, I’m working at home now and it’s been a blast. I’ve been busting my butt for a month and a half now working on some of my home businesses, and have finally started making a dent in my task pile.

So, I’ve decided that I need to do something for me. And what I’ve decided is to participate in the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) again this year.

NaNoWriMo is where a bunch of crazy, frustrated writers get together and try to write a 50,000 word novel in one month. In this event, quantity is more important than quality. The goal is to get the 50,000 words out there into the world, and worry about editing later.

Some of you started reading my first NaNoWriMo effort last year. “Act of Remembrance” went as far as about 13,000 words before I abandoned it. Some of you were pissed that the work was abandoned, and for that, I apologize. I am picking it up again, and will be working on it diligently over the coming months.

As far as what’s going to be written this month (you have to start from ground zero for NaNoWriMo and I want to keep true to the content “rules”), I still haven’t decided. I’m going in with even less in my head this year than last, but who knows — maybe I’ll get all 50,000 words out this year.

So, looks like chuckbutt.com is back up and running. I’ve been buried in business for too long, and need the creative outlet. I’ll work on both Act of Remembrance and the new NaNoWriMo novel as much as I possibly can (while still getting my businesses off the ground). chuckbutt needs some creativity in his life!

So, if you have any words of encouragement, let me know. I promise I will be working harder this year on the new novel. I’m almost certain of the theme, but will wait until November 1st to make the final decision. Until then, have a good one.

Chuck
