Some Super Bowl Pics

Just a quick post to let you guys know that Andy Grant has put up some of his Super Bowl XXXVIII (or as we like to call is Super Bowl 38) pics up on his site.

Go to afgrant.com to see some of the pics of the game, and of Larry the Lizard and the rest of the Super Bowl crew we went down to Houston with.

The Super Bowl, part deux

What a wild 24 hours Michele and I had! We just got back from the Super Bowl in Houston, Texas where our New England Patriots played, and beat, a very tough Carolina Panthers team. It was a nail biter down to the last seconds of the game, and nobody in the crowd spent much time on their Super Bowl commemorative seat cushion.

Here are some of the highlights in brief before I post some pictures and give you a little more of an accounting of the event:

  • Donnie Wahlberg (from the New Kids on the Block) was on the plane with us
  • Bob Villa was sitting in the seat behind me at the Super Bowl (exchanged many high fives with the tool guy)
  • Went to the Patriot’s after-party. It was way cool - Aerosmith and Kid Rock played, saw Kid Rock’s new chick Jamie Pressley, Cedric the Entertainer, Ty Law, Willie McGinnest, Rodney Harrison, Daniel Graham, Matt Light, Joe Andruzzi, Bob Kraft cradling “the trophy,” Ted Johnson (my friend Lori’s favorite - she got a picture with him), and some other players.
  • The flight home sucked on Monday morning - had to leave the party at 1:30 and flew at 4:00 am.
  • Slept most of the day Monday (thank you Michele!)
  • Michele woke me up at one point to tell me that Carson had head lice - great homecoming present!

It was awesome, and an even better game than the last Super Bowl. Don’t think I’ll do the one-day trip again (unless they go to Detroit in 2006). Too much of a strain on my old, fat body.

I’m going to sign off for now, but will post pictures in a day or two after I get the chance to download, etc.

Go Pats!

Defender of the Universe

I’ve just completed another “humor” column, in which I discuss my manly prowess. And speaking of manly prowess, I just discovered another wonderful use for lemons beyond adding a nice little zest to your iced tea. I’m getting ready to head out for the weekend, and to watch the Patriots in their latest battle. Have a great weekend, and GO PATS!

The 19th Hole

A friend of mine sent me a golf joke, which got me thinking of another golf joke I had heard recently, so I posted both of them. I’ve been working on another column, so I hope to have it up before the end of day tomorrow. Check back then!

Go Pats!

I’m a little tired today from watching the New England Patriots kick the Pittsburgh Steelers’ collective butts. I was at the Patriot’s new stadium, Gillette Stadium, in lovely Foxborough, Massachusetts last night for the team’s opener. What a night, and what a victory! In addition, I thought “Talk Like a Pirate Day” sounded like a great idea, so please join me on September 19, me hearty. Go Pats!

Turn The Page

I’ve just completed a column about my high school reunion. I had a good time, but in general, thinking back to high school is not my favorite hobby. But I’m wondering why I didn’t marry a world-class female sprinter. It seems I could help her performance, and vice versa. I’ve also added a new joke to the Jokes page that my brother submitted. Hopefully, he’s not stupid enough to actually try this. Later!

Winning Golf and Another Review

Last Friday, my friend Troy and I teamed up with FOX25’s Butch Sterns and his friend Bobby to win the David McGrath Memorial Golf Tournament in Pembroke, MA. We carded a minus 4 in unbelievably difficult weather condition - a driving, chilling rain on an already wet course. It was a fun time, and Butch and Bobby were a great pair to spend a few hours on the links with. The tournament also helped raise some money for a worthy cause.

I’ve also added a new review to the Reviews page. Check out my thoughts on Carter Beats the Devil, a book by Glen David Gold. It’s a great novel set in the roaring 20s that shows you the inside of the great magicians of the golden era of magic. Pick up a copy by clicking through the links on the Reviews page. Later!
